As a teenager in the late 90s Booth's friends & family all had a cell/ mobile phone as they are coming into fashion but Booth was hesitant about them he would only use phone boxes. His last three ex-girlfriends have all said the same thing that he was hard to get hold off.

On his 20th birthday an ex-girlfriend gave him a present as he opened it, it turned out to be a pager he looked up at her & said "I don't know what this is" she replied "its a pager knowing you don't like modern technology I thought this might help when some one calls you they leave a message for you all you have to do is find a nearest phone & call back" he replied "I can life with that".

Armed with a pager Booth was easier to get hold of but took his time to get back to them how ever everyone is used to this about him.

Two months after 9-11 Booth joined the army he joined up to avenge what happened in New York so did everyone in the unit he ended up in.

Years of training he excelled in urban combat & other areas as well everyone respected him. six years later still using his pager but slowly considering getting a cell/mobile phone two weeks after getting a spot in the Joe's team he got him self the most popular phone around at the time & the 1st person he called was an ex-girlfriend number 3 she was shocked to hear him using a cell/ mobile phone & was very proud of him but his nick name stayed.
