Captain America was created during the close of World War II to be the ultimate soldier. Enhanced by genetic treatments, Cap was dropped on Normandy before D-Day and broke the German lines to allow the invasion. Working with OSS, he was pivotal in the secret war against Hitler's alien partners, the Chitauri. Presumed KIA in his final action in Greenland, Cap was frozen and left adrift in the North Atlantic for decades until his body was revived by SHIELD.

As acting field leader of the Ultimates, SHIELD's superhuman Special Forces team, Cap has been instrumental in stopping several threats to the Earth, including the Hulk, the returning Chitauri, and the Brotherhood of Mutants.
