Head: v1 Dial-Tone
Body: BJ's Sound Attack Dial-Tone
Backpack: Target Elite Force
Rifle: PTE
Phone: Firefly

At first glance, the BJ Dial-Tone looks pretty cool. But upon closer inspection, he has some pretty glaring flaws. The head is very poorly painted (a problem that's sadly too common in post-2002 releases), and the torso is lacking the proper layer paint: the green wasn't used on the collar like it was supposed to (instead being used on what was once bare skin on the v1 figure), and it didn't even match the green of the sleeves. There was no indication of black despite its presence on the arms.

I decided to solve these problems. The first step was getting a better head. Originally, I'd used a very cheap head I found in a pack at Wal-Mart, which could've worked for a clean-shaven Dial-Tone. However, once I got a v1 Dial-Tone head in a parts lot, it became obvious I had to use it. I just had to touch up some paint wear on the beret and it was good to go.

For fixing the chest, I didn't have any paints that worked as is to match the sleeves, so I had to mix them. I'm extremely proud of how nicely the mix turned out, it's a perfect match for the sleeves. A little bit of black and the job was done. Amazing what two small paint applications can do to make a figure look better.

The accessories were pretty obvious. An M4 carbine from PTE, a phone from Firefly and a communications backpack from the Target Elite Force line. The backpack required considerable amounts of cutting before it fit, but once it did it was perfect. The green is even a close match for the figure's green.

I'm proud of this figure. This is how Hasbro should've done this version in the first place.
