Eagle Scout was a machine gunner in Vietnam. A man driven by honor and love of country, he enlisted early in the conflict. As a good luck charm and reminder of home he would wear his scout neckerchief with him at all times. He lost his life valiantly in battle, singlehandedly fighting back an enemy ambush long enough for his platoon to rescue the wounded and fall back to safety. It just so happens one of the injured men he saved was Snake Eyes. He was made an honorary member of the GI Joe team to pay tribute to his sacrifice.

I was reading about soldiers who were given the Medal Of Honor recently, and I was moved how most of them were killed fighting against impossible odds in order to save their fellow soldiers. I wanted to create a character that embodies that kind of honor and self sacrifice.
