Bio: Joseph Colton graduated in 1960 from the Unted States Military Academy at West Point, recieving the academy's highest possible honors. An expert marksman, he is proficient with all modern weapondry from M-60 machine guns to attack helicopters and L.A.W.s. (Light ArmoredWeapons.) Recruited by Special Forces. Colton was destined for military glory, quickly distinguishing himself as an outstanding Green Beret. In 1963, after participating in "Ultra" top secret combat operations and extenisve tours of duty in trouble spots around the world, then-First Lieutenant Colton had become the most decorated- and most feared- combat soldier the world had ever known. Recognizing Colton's innate combat skills and his warrior's heart pumping courage through his veins, then-President John F. Kennedy secretly selected him to create and command an ULTIMATE freedom fighting force. Higher ranking soldiers had been passed over for this elite presidential appointment. Colton was issued his codename "G.I. Joe", and began building his team with the toughtest men the armed forces could muster. From there, G.I. Joe, both the man and the unit would change the course of military history and the definition of the word hero.

In the 1980's, after several years of retirement, G.I. Joe returned to semi-active duty as chief of security for the Orbital Defense System headquarters hidden in the Chrysler Building. During this time, Colton, and former G.I. Joe nurse Jane, also of the original G.I. Joe team, encountered and were made honorary members of the new G.I. Joe team led by General Clayton "Hawk" Abernathy.

Between 1994 and 2001, Colton, now a general himself, worked his way up through the ranks of brass hats to become Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Leading to a meeting between General "G.I. Joe" Colton and a President Of The United States on November 14, 2001 that would, as a similar meeting in 1963 had, change the course of military history, it was this meeting that would begin the rebirth of the G.I. Joe team and created G.I. Joe: Frontline...

"Everyone in the Army has one of three men as an idol; vehicle jockeys have General Patton, grunts have Sergeant Savage... but there's not a man or woman in the Army that doesn't respect Joseph Colton. I know firsthand that it makes the man uncomfortable, to him he was just a soldier doing his job, what he doesn't understand is that's WHY they respect him..." --Major John T. Magnus, codename: "Turbo"
