I really like Leatherneck. I always have, even before his character was developed in the cartoon I just thought the figure was awesome. He was a throwback to more traditional colors and the fact that he seemed older was a cool addition to the crew.

I was really annoyed with Hasbro's amazingly lazy approach to Leatherneck. He is an A-list character that they never seemed to pay any attention to. I'll usually buy a Hasbro figure if it is somewhat close to the what I'm looking for but I never touched either of the junk fests they released.

Instead I spent a lot of time looking at what parts Hasbro could of used with a minimal amount of effort to make a good Leatherneck. I really didn't want to do too much alteration just to prove that it could be done with some creativity.

The only sculpted parts are the ribbing he has on his shoulders, pouches on his upper arms, and the watches on his arms to cover the Duke wrist. The rest is all just painted.

The old POTF Han Solo head had an aged and haggard look that I wanted to go for with Leatherneck since I was basing the face more on the card art then the cartoon or comic. So I did some trimming and sculpting and he was all set.
