The popular legend goes: "Kevin Matchstick is an alienated young man with an uncanny resemblance to Matt Wagner. He meets a wizard called Mirth, discovers he has superhuman abilities, gains a magic baseball bat and defeats the nefarious plans of a being called the Umbra Sprite. He ultimately discovers that Mirth is Merlin, the baseball bat is Excalibur, and he is, in some ambiguous way, King Arthur"*

In my Joeverse, Kevin is just a normal, albeit very strong guy with a superiority complex and a baseball bat. His delusions have led him to become a do-gooding vigilante. Nick Fury noticed Mage from an ABC news story, and frequently calls upon him to help out The Others on various assignments that Fury knows will not fall in the 'grey' morality zone.

As a customizing note: I had the idea for this fig well before I discovered the character of Brawler, and his less-than-stellar reputation around here. But I liked the parts combo too much to change. So, this might be my attempt to give Brawler some cred. Even if the character is crackers.
