Mikes real name is not Mike. When coming up with a call sign all anyone knew about him was that he was a great mechanic. There happened to be a Mike and the mechanics song on the oldies station the Joes where listening to, so the call sign stuck.

Mike is in Charge of the Joe motor pool, he is a senior NCO with a specialty in diesel mechanics. He can actually work on just about any type of engine, diesel, gas, jet, whatever the joes need.
