When I first started my EXCAL verse, Batman was a "Paladin Knight" (actually a secretive shadowy version of that), and Dick was a Paladin Trainee for the organization, code named Robin. It was an attempt to move away from the role as that of circus boy in tights.

In later years, as my verse has movied away from the unified military organization, and more towards traditional roles, I had Dick become Nightwing (after having reached full Paladin status), and he still is pals with Batman, while Tim Drake has taken on a more traditional Robin role. Because the Robin outfit I had for Dick was more of a letter jacket style, I figure he still wears it sometimes as civilian garb, or to ride his motorcycle while not fighting crime. I updated the rest of that alt figure, and it's actually no one of my favorites as well.
