Design:

I was inspired to make a Pale Peony custom after seeing pyro894's great ARAH custom. I knew next to nothing about the character. She's an Arashikage clan ninja who wears pink. Or is she a Joe? Or both?

I picked up an issue of the IDW's GI Joe to get a feel for a character. It was an uninspiring story in which Pale Peony and Jinx infiltrated a Cobra laboratory but got caught. The vibe from reading that one issue is that Pale Peony is basically a Jinx clone, but with blonde hair and pink uniform. There's probably a bit more to the character than the single lackluster issue conveyed.

Instead of a more traditional gi, the uniform is more-or-less a onesie with kneepads. The bare arms didn't have any appeal to me, but I kept Japanese flag tattoo design on the arm as an arm band.

Like many of my customs, it uses parts from figures with minimal articulation. In this case, it has no knee articulation in the Lyn Me legs. Even without the knees, it still has 12 points of articulation.

Colors & Paint:

Pink, plus purple as the secondary color.

Sculpting & Modifying:

The top of the head/hair was too flat, so epoxy was sculpted on to add volume and roundness. The straight and clunky Scarlett ponytail was replaced with a more dynamic sculpted one. The massive Baroness shoulders were whittled down. The tiny Baroness hands were removed from the lower arms and replaced with better sized Han Solo ones. The top and bottom halves were glued together and epoxied smooth at the midriff, with a sculpted belt on top of the waistline. The pulled-down hood around the neck is also sculpted. The ribbons were removed from the legs, with the bottoms of the pant legs sculpted.

Thanks for looking.
