The Steel Brigade is a fun concept in the GI Joe universe. The idea that drove the original mail away was that all of us could be Joes. Steel Brigade members could be anything they wanted. They could choose a code name, a specialty and their abilities and personality traits. In the early 2000s, the Club modernized the Steel Brigade for their Convention set. The Steel Brigade became an international security and peacekeeping force.

For my Joe-verse, I decided to run with this idea and make the Steel Brigade a multinational UN peacekeeping force that comes in after GI Joe clears a country from Cobra. The Steel Brigade then insures security, stabilizes the government, provides humanitarian aid and mops up any Cobra stragglers or guerrilla fighters. For this, the SB needs a wide variety of soldiers and specialists.
