The ninja known as Satan was a common soldier who later joined a Japanese Ninja clan that was a rival of the Akirishage order. He quickly adapted to the transition from pistols to crossbows and shirikens, becoming one of his orders most skilled pupils. After leaving the order, he took up various jobs as an industrial saboteur, which eventually led him to Cobra. Cobra commander quickly hired him to replace Storm Shadow, who had then just defected to G.I.Joe, and he quickly built a reputation among the Joe team for his fighting skills, and deadly accuracy with a crossbow.

"This guy is like the Anti-snake eyes. They started out with similar beginnings, but where Snake-eyes returned to the service of his country, Satan began working for his own selfish interests. Now that Storm Shadow has "returned" to working for Cobra, Satan is constantly focused on upstaging him at every turn, whether it is a simple mission, or in armed combat. He even has begun to go out of his way to challenge snake-eyes, so he can steal the glory of the kill from Storm Shadow."
