Many corporations and governments engage in industrial espionage and Cobra can't afford to be left out if it is to stay competitive. Cobra simply plays the game a little harder.

The TAC*-Vipers are a small but elite pool of tech-savvy and very silent operatives whose job is to infiltrate government and industrial sites and steal proprietary knowledge for Cobra's own benefit. Agents are drawn from a whole cross-section of Cobra, notably from Hellion's Special Operations Directorate but also including Tele-Vipers, Techno-Vipers, Night-Vipers and Scout-Vipers. They are under the Operational Command of Cobra's Strategic Command.

The TAC-Viper uniform is highly sophisticated, incorporating latest generation IR-suppressing and ground radar-dampening technologies. Their pack includes all the necessary tools for site penetration (and, if necessary, destruction to cover their tracks). The helmet incorporates night-vision, a transceiver and a high definition still and video digital camera for a live uplink back to technicians. The scrambled feed enables direct assistance in overcoming on-sight security and computer systems. Furthermore, it allows instant transmission of data collected on-site, ensuring a higher probability of mission success in the unlikely event of an agent's compromise.
