A former double agent of the CIA, Dmitri Smerdyakov went freelance, working for the highest bidder. Art is sacrifice and Smerdyakov is a master disguise artist. Having his nose & ears surgically removed allowed him to use a wider range of masks and disguises.
In Berlin, Smerdyakov was commissioned to recover several documents and artifacts from a government holding facility.

Recognizing the master at work, Smerdyakov was offered a retainer fee to continue working for the young Baron Zemo. Smerdyakov became Zemo's hand in the field, stealing and murdering what and who Zemo desired to accomplish his endgame.
