From the Marvel Comic Special Missions #29, Wesley Dodds was featured alongside GI Joes Airtight, Airwave and Mirage, investigating an outbreak of somnambulism in Broca Beach. Dodd, a university professor dubbed 'The Sandman' for his expertise in chemically-induced sleep disorders, was brought in to help diagnose and fix whatever was turning the citizens into high-functioning zombies. It was discovered that Cobra's Dr. Mindbender had been releasing chemicals into the sewers of the town, and after a prolonged battle with Croc Master beneath the streets, the Joes emerged victorious, with the noxious gas neutralized.
