Design:

Vance Wingfield appeared in GI Joe #4 as the leader of "Strike First", a fringe militia bankrolled by Cobra. His uniform was a set of fatigues, so I used simplistic parts to recreate the design. The Blanka head, with its angry snarl, matched up well for Wingfield's crazed ranting. I couldn't find a removable ball cap big enough for the huge Blanka head, so I went for the hatless/bald head. Plus, in the case of this character, being bald adds to the crazy more than wearing a ball cap would.

Colors & Paint:

Roughly taken from the comic book. I added a few extra layers of paint over the teeth to obscure the animal-like sculpting of Blanka's teeth. I couldn't exactly match the uniform's burgundy seen in the comic book- the closest spray paint has a redder hue. To draw the red out of the uniform and make it appear a bit more brown than it really is, I made the t-shirt straight red.

I created a very simple "Strike First" logo. Though it is different than the mushroom cloud logo seen in the comics, its wording is just big enough to be read by the eye. I printed the logo and added it as a patch to the arm.

As Vance Wingfield is supposed to be a bald guy spending lots of time under the Montana sun, I added some sun-blotched areas to the skin.

Sculpting & Modifying:

I filled in the hair socket on the head. The sunglasses are sculpted.
