Grand Slam is a prolific member to my Joe team. Due to the team's self contained nature, they are responsible for their own infantry support including things like artillery. The Joe team operates a pretty expansive artillery program, which includes heavy hitting long range artillery cannons like the Thunderclap to the smaller medium range Mobile Battle Bunker, and Grand Slam oversees all of it. Anytime Joe artillery is sent into the filed, Grand Slam is right there along side them coordinating tactical mortar and artillery strikes with operatives at the FOB, and Command back at headquarters.
Grand Slam is one of the eldest members of the Joe team, but strives to maintain peak metal and physical fitness. He's become a leader that his men respect and trust.

Grand Slam is a cool character, but I never really had a Grand Slam figure that I enjoyed. This figure was created years ago to fill that void. No painting involved here, he was just a simple parts swap.
Oh, and the Red Star head has always been Grand Slam to me!...I can't see this head as anyone other than that, not even Red Star!
