Sandstorm grew up in Utah and from early childhood had learned how to navigate and survive in the desert. He further honed these skills as an Airborne Ranger on missions in Africa and the Middle East.
Sandstorm is referred to by his fellow Joe's as a "one-upper". If they had killed ten enemy combatants, Sandstorm killed at least eleven. If they had dodged a hundred bullets, Sandstorm dodged a thousand! Its become something of running joke behind his back.

GI Joe has had several arctic troopers, and even a few jungle warfare specialists, but they only had one desert trooper, Dusty.
Sandstorm is a new Joe dedicated to Desert Combat. He's pretty simple repaint, the goggles are removable, and fit nicely over his eyes in case of those...well, sandstorms!
