When the modern EXCAL organization was announced as a means to better tackle the threats posed throughout the world by MEDUSA, Snake Eyes was one of the first members of the G.I. Joe team to defect from that unit to join up.

There is little doubt that Snake Eyes past connections to the man they call Batman played a large role in his decision, just as it would play a role in later years when both Batman and the Silent Master coerced Logan to sign up.
