Design:

While parting together my Sabre Tooth custom, I found several workable combinations. I liked both of them too much to not make, so Wreckage had to be made. Yes, this means I see Wreckage and Sabre Tooth as two different characters. Hasbro's Wreckage was released in 2003 by Hasbro as a nod to the never-produced Sabre Tooth, although the colors on Wreckage were slightly different than those that would have been on Sabre Tooth. The GI Joe Collector's club was released as Wreckage, but its figure stand was labeled "Sgt. Sabretooth". Both figures were well done, but ultimately still feel like Firefly repaints.

On this custom of Wreckage, the NS Tunnel Rat head and Firefly waist are used in conjunction with ARAH parts.

As with my Sabre Tooth custom, Wreckage's face is exposed, with a head wrap replacing a full ski mask. It didn't turn out too well, but I'm posting it mostly to show the process.

Colors & Paints:

The biggest difference between the Sabre Tooth/Sabretooth and Wreckage was the color of their masks. Sabretooth's would have been a rusty orange (although the GIJCC used a darker color for its figure) and Wreckage's was beige. With my Sabretooth custom, I kept the pine green with yellow stripes, so for Wreckage I eliminated the stripes altogether and went with browns and tans, plus some green and black. This is Wreckage out of his Tiger Force uniform.

The Duke chest is one of the most iconic ones in the entire GI Joe lineup. I painted it darker than the rest of the uniform to make it read more as a vest than a shirt. The darker color also hides the fact that it's a bit pudgy compared to the other pieces.

Customizing reveals details in the sculpt that Hasbro ignored or minimized during the production runs. The holster on the Doc thigh has an unpainted shell attached to the holster, behind the firearm. I never noticed it until I painted the holster for this custom. After realizing that the shell was there, I figured out that the opposite thigh has two more shells in pockets. I'd always just assumed those were supposed to be pill canisters, but they're the same size as the shell.

Sculpting & Modifying:

I was lazy and didn't add a back strap to balance out the mysterious Duke strap that is only on the front of the figure. The partially pulled-down head wrap is sculpted.

Thanks for looking.
