Lifeline served as a paramedic with the Seattle Fire Department for five years before enlisting and being selected by the Joe team as their rescue trooper. He touts himself as a pacifist, but knows that when the battle heats up and casualties increase, he will use whatever means necessary to get his fallen comrades to safety.

The Marauders is an autonomous unit working deep behind enemy lines, completely cut off from additional support. As much as the Sarge was initially dismayed having a "pacifist" on his team, he knows that if one of his Marauders takes a hit, there's no treating them safely behind the lines, he needs someone willing to treat them on the line.
