This figure is part my Cobra C13 set, a 13 figure set of the first 13 Cobra non army builder figures (excluding Serpentor)-- the concentration of my Joe collection first as a kid, then later when the 25th Anniversary got going.

While the battle mask Commander would helm my Cobra O13 set, I had the hooded Commander would helm the C13, with the dark blue of this version meshing better with the black clad figures such as Baroness, Destro, Bludd, and Mindbender. As Hasbro begun producing better updated POC and 30th versions of figures, an upgrade to the dark blue hooded Commander from 25th to 30th style was warranted.

Repainting CC opened up the figure to switching to lower legs out for some sleek boots, inspired by HissTanker Azrael13's incredible Atkins Design CC custom. I also borrowed other features from his custom, such as the chest strap, lapels, and ceremonial cord.

The gold and dark blue of this figure felt very much in tune with the Commander from the early Marvel Comics. This led me to also repaint my O13 set Cobra Guards (also Marvel Comic inspired) with the similar gold, repaint an extra Officer webgear gold, and put the three figures together as an alternate concept TRU Senior Ranking Officers three-pack in Marvel Comics style.

At the same time, I had gotten some Tamiya Clear Yellow to test a gold helmet Viper mask, and decided to also try it out on CC. Props to Oreobuilder and his 1997 Concept Colors Commander repaint, whose image and colors were in the back of my mind when I tried this out.
