When the Air Assault Gliders went on clearance at Target, I swooped up as many as I could get for the Barrel Roll figure to use as fodder, which left me with an abundance of gliders. Now, I like to man all my vehicles and not leave them laying around unused, so I needed some pilots for them. Considering Skymate is a Glider Trooper he was the perfect candidate.

Now, I could have actually made really cool looking versions of the character, but what would be the fun in that? the hideousness of the RAH figure, and the fact that I have never seen a Skymate custom before, drew me to him to make the custom to begin with, so I wanted to match that hideousness in new sculpt form.
