Hard Master was one the greatest warriors that ever was. He taught many ninjas including his nephew Storm Shadow and his friend Snake Eyes. Of all the ninjas that the Hard Master had trained none in his opinion was as talented as Snake Eyes. Storm Shadow was jealous of this and was outraged that the Arashikage clan would be turned over to Snake Eyes and not him. One day while teaching Snake Eyes the "darkened room techniques" the Hard Master was assassinated by one of Storm Shadow's arrows.
