Cobra B.A.T. v.3.2

JOE B.A.T.
G.I.JOE Battle Android Trooper

File Name: Inapplicable
Primary Military Specialty: Infantry
Secondary Military Specialty: Machine Repair
Birthplace: Inapplicable

Generally speaking, it's impossible to capture one of Cobra's Battle Android Troopers. These walking arsenals can generally only be stopped when they run out of ammo, and if the return fire doesn't blow them up, they have a self-destruct mechanism built in to keep them from being captured and analyzed. Something went "wrong" with this particular B.A.T. v.3 when it was kicked out onto a battlefield. It calmly walked across the field, right up to a team of Joes, and politely said, "I surrender." Figuring this was the best chance they'd ever had to fully analyze one of the more recent versions of Cobra's B.A.T.s, the Joes took the thing back to their headquarters, after thoroughly scanning it for homing devices and transmitters. The general consensus regarding its behavior was that it was an experimental B.A.T., designed to be more intelligent, so as to be a better strategist on the battlefield, and instead, it decided that it didn't want to get blown up and destroyed. It cooperated fully with being analyzed by the Joes, after being assured it would not be destroyed in the process. Once it had been fully tested by G.I.Joe tech experts Mainframe and Hi-Tech, the Joes decided to keep it around, giving it a somewhat altered paint job (specifically using "non-Cobra" colors but resulting in a color scheme strangely similar to the B.A.T. v2, except for the metallic olive), and dubbing it "Joe B.A.T." The rifle built onto its right arm has been reworked as a welding gun, and it's proven to be extremely useful in both the machine shop and the computer lab ever since.

From General Hawk's files: "Cobra built this one a little bit too well. Trying to give this B.A.T. something closer to human intelligence also gave it something of an individual will, and for lack of a better term, the B.A.T. became a conscientious objector. It doesn't want to fight. It gladly helps out around HQ wherever it can, but it wants nothing to do with the battlefield. That's okay, because honestly, we'd hate to see it destroyed, and it's become very handy to have around. It's not perfect, though. Roadblock's attempt to expand its capabilities by teaching it how to cook was a disaster which shall be long remembered by anyone who used the mess hall that day, and while it does seem to have something of a sense of humor, its vocalized laugh sounds like a lawn mower with a bad cough."
