Hellboy was a baby demon to earth in 1944 by the Russian mystic Grigori Rasputin, who while opening an inter-dimensional portal with the intent to bring about the end of the world.
Stopped by Allied Forces, led by Professor Trevor Bruttenholm, who raised Hellboy as a son and founded the Bureau of Paranormal Research & Defense, who as Professor says, "bumps back" against the things that go bump in the night.
