This was created using Tonka scale vehicles, and PVC pipe. Tech bits are from a Battlestar Galactica ship.
I hired Curtis Ingvoldstad, a professional Wood Sculptor to make the head for me.
Hands- artists hands with Lacrosse gloves.

Altogether the project took just under five months to complete. I wish I had kept track of the money and time I spent on him. Devastator stands at 5'6" to the top of the crane (4'4" to the top of the head) and he weighs in at 59 pounds.

To give the custom realistic detail I added 1:18th accessories (ladders, compressor tanks, batteries, tool boxes, fire extinguishers, ect.). I also added a hydraulic system to the digger.
I used textured Decepticon stickers too.
Note on the hands: The wood artists hands rock, and allow for total articulation- like an actual human hand. I modded the gloves to fit them.
I chose a slightly more realistic paint job for my Devastator. I went with darker colors, because I felt they fit better in the Joe universe. I used different spray paint techniques to allow for shading. I also used textured paint to add "dirt" to various areas

Thanks to everyone who helped make this custom come to life!

Devastator received Cool Custom of the Week on TNI in November of 2008.
