Michelle Lachance's skills with computers which she filled out her teenage boredom life with made her become a self-taught expert with data systems and programming languages - unfortunately it also led her astray to the wrong side of the law. Her natural genius led her into a hacking career of unparalleled proportions, from altering her high school grades to manipulating credit cards and bank accounts. Feeling the youthful sense of invulnerability as she remained undetected for a long time, she hacked her way into U.S. military systems where she finally failed to completely hide her movements. The FBI traced the source back to her and she was arrested and prosecuted.

While being incarcerated in federal prison, Cobra launched one of their worst terrorist attacks yet through satellite channels and computer systems. As the military programmers realized that they needed help in defeating the Cobra threat, Michelle Lachance was paroled in exchange for aiding her country with her computer skills. Her work led her working side by side with G.I.Joe computer expert Mainframe, who personally took her under his care and helped her straighten out her life. As the Cobra threat finally was defeated, Mainframe convinced his superiors that Michelle was to be enlisted into the G.I.Joe team where her skills would come into the right uses. It was either that or going back to prison. She went through the basic training and became one of G.I.Joe's most important members with computer skills.

Personal Comments:

I find it sad that Firewall never made it to become recognized as an official figure, and she probably never will now that G.I.Joe has rebooted. She and several others were such interesting characters, and should therefore not be just tossed aside and forgotten.
