Design:

This is another Action Force custom based on the Palitoy figures. Hunter was repaint of the Cobra Officer. I used parts that had a similar feel without looking exactly like a Cobra Officer. The biggest change was the helmet. The original figure's head is just too distinctive to use for anything but a Cobra Officer, even when it was used to create Hunter. The NS Dusty helmet looks like a contemporary British helmet and not like a Cobra helmet, so I used it.

So far most my Action Force custom figures had been New Sculpts and ARAH. I've done most of my Red Shadow figures in 25A and non-joe (Star Wars) formats, this is only the second time I've made an Action Force figure in 25A format. Using a Cobra Commander torso was a treat, as it's usually too iconic to pass for other characters, but dressing it up with webgear disguised it rather well.

Colors & painting:

I used the color palette of the original figure, using the midnight blue in a few more spots.

The face of the Cobra Bazooka Trooper also has a darker skin tone, which reflects the character's Mexican heritage. The eyebrows are thickened a little. To make the silver work, it has an undercoat of light blue.

I always add powder blue and tomato red to all of my Action Force customs (for no particular reason). Here I used the blue on the goggles and the red on the pouch strapped under the goggles' band.

Modifying & sculpting:

The pouches along the waistline were removed to accommodate the Roadblock webgear. The Bazooka Trooper pouches are set on top of sculpted webgear straps.

The neck draping was removed from the helmet.

After the helmet the biggest design change from the original figure was the addition of the boot holster. The figure seemed a bit bare without and kind of weapon. The original figure had a knife on the opposite leg, whereas this figure has a pouch in the same location.

Thanks for looking.
