When Kent Nelson was a young boy he accompanied his father Sven on an expedition to the valley of Ur. Young Kent opened the tomb of the Egyptian wizard Nabu, Releasing a poisonous gas killing his father. Nabu now awakened takes pity on the child and teaches him sorcery skills before entrusting him with his helmet, amulet and cloak. When Kent wears the helmet it allows Nabu to possess Kent and control his vast sorcery skills. Kent uses his powers for good and joins the Justice Society of America to stop supernatural threats that Cobra unleashes against the forces of light.
