Balor takes his name form the character of Irish mythology.

Known for having the Evil Eye he could kill by looking at you. It had been prophesied that he would be killed by his grandson, so he attempted to have his grandchildren killed. One survived, Lugh, who killed him at the second battle of Magh Tuiredh.

The modern Balor's Evil Eye is a form of repulsor tech that allows him to destroy both the living and undead alike.
