Following up on a hot tip, Daily Bugle reporter Peter Parker stumbles on to a smuggling ring bringing in rare and precious antiques. One such antique was a spider totem for Anansi. It fell out of a fumble thumbed thug's hands and broke open releasing a horde of spiders. On its way out, one bit Parker and within moments, he collapsed into a fever dream of spider gods, and darkness. When he awoke, he realized he was super-humanly fast, strong and agile. Combined with his ability to stick to walls, he took the moniker of The Spider-Man and settled on a motto familiar to him.
