I made Crankcase because he was a character that had not gotten a lot of attention by customizers and he was a nice alternative to Clutch. Clutch was a great character, but there had been numerous customs made of him. I just could not think of an original look for him, to make him a distinct Stormavik custom and not a copycat custom. I also wanted to bring in some new blood to my JoeVerse, I wanted some of the newer characters. Crankcase was a pretty cool character according to his bio. It also did not make a lot of sense to have Clutch be the driver for the Striker II, the version of the A.W.E. Striker in my JoeVerse. One of the immediate changes that I wanted to make to Crankcase was to lose the British feel that the ARAH version had. I think that feel was in great part because of the sweater that he wore. My Crankcase is in a traditional nomex flight suit and green flight jacket often worn by aviators and tank crews.
