The Oktober Guard is often thought of as the Soviet equivalent to the GI Joe team, but they actually represent the Warsaw Pact, an organization that dissolved in 1991, and was made up of the Soviet Union and allied states. The original OG had members from the USSR, Czechoslovakia and East Germany. I wanted to fill out the ranks of the Guard a bit, and one way to do so was to make sure each member of the Warsaw Pact had a representative on the team. This gives as Ras (Romanian for Lynx), a member of Romania's elite vanatori de munte mountain forces ("mountain huntsmen"). Normally, even when basing a figure on something from the real world, I take a fair bit of license in its design. But in Ras' case, I went for maximum accuracy. His uniform, colouration, camo design and even his weapon (a Romanian-made AIMR carbine) are very much all true-to-life. I probably use the Airborne backpack too much, but it's just such a good general infantry pack.
