Design:

After reading WWIII and seeing some of the great Plague customs others have done, I decided to start my set with Incision. When reading the "origin story" of the Plague, I enjoyed seeing that ARAH figures were used as the basis for artwork for several of them. Most of the Plaque customs I've seen are done in 25A format, so I went the other route and worked with ARAH parts.

The artwork depicted Incision wearing what looked more like sleeveless athletic attire and a hood. I wanted a bit more "ninja flavor", so I used the ninja/wrapped lower legs. The Blaster chest got used because it's somewhat similar to the original Night Creeper chest, without being identical to it. The silly Crystal Ball arms looked strange enough to use for a ninja- and didn't require painting at the elbow joints.

The bulky backpack also hides the slightly-oversized hood.

Colors & Paint:

Like other customizers, I found the all charcoal grey palette used in the comic book to be too bland to use on a figure. The base color of the custom is charcoal, but then dusted with brown to help provide some contrast against the equipment on it.

To get spray paint to adhere to the SS hood, I had to first paint it with a layer of acrylic paint for the spray point to sit on top of.

To create the "slotted visor" effect, I simply painted a purple line running through the center of Snake-Eye's goggles. The purple is a nod to the original ARAH Night Creeper figure. The visor isn't actually symmetrical, so it was impossible to paint a level/even line that looked perfect.

The Storm Shadow backpack really pushed the figure in the right ninja direction. Never having really paid much attention to it before painting it, I hadn't notice all of the detail. It has nunchuks, six throwing stars, and what appears to be a folding ladder.

Modifying & Sculpting:

The face-covering part of the Storm Shadow hood was removed. The head and neck areas were modded to fit each other. The tops of the shoulders were also carved out to allow the hood to come down further over the head. The ornate design on the Crystal Ball lower arm guards was removed. I added hot glue to make the back-facing side of the backpack a bit more organic in appearance.

Thanks for looking.
