Laird James McCullen Destro XXIV is the real name for Destro who was born in Callander, Scotland. He is the leader of the Iron Grenadiers, and founder of M.A.R.S. Industries, a weapons manufacturer and supplier for Cobra. He often works for Cobra Commander begrudgingly. He has at times also allied himself with the Joes. He has a romantic interest in the Baroness and is a businesman first above all else.
