Red Star Torso, Windchill arms and legs, Free Fall head

I should state right off that I created this figure years before Hasbro finally gave us the Oktober Guard in the excellent comic sets a few years ago.

I realized there were some Oktober Guard members that I could probably customize, and Schrage was one of them. I used the Red Star torso, although having used it for several figures already, I used modeling putty to turn the original grenade into a gun holster, the original gun holster into a pouch. This worked surprisingly well. The arms and legs are from Windchill, because in later appearances Schrage always had those big gloves, and these were close, and I liked the design of Windchill's legs.

I chose the Free Fall head because I thought it was reasonably close to Schrage, and obscure enough to not be readily recognized. I painted the hair and eyebrows white, as they had often appeared as such in the comics. I think Hasbro did much better with the light blonde they ultimately used. The cap was sculpted with modeling putty as were the collar details.

About my only gripe with this figure is I would've liked to have found a lighter green for the uniform, but there was none available that I was happy with. I wish the comic sets had lasted long enough to see an official Schrage reissue in the green uniform color that he actually wore more often.

How do I think my Schrage compares to Hasbro? I like my figure, and I think a few of my details are closer to the later appearances of Schrage, but on the whole, I'm delighted that Hasbro gave us official figures of the complete Oktober Guard, and THAT one will always be Schrage to me. This figure? Maybe he's a "Schrage II", kept in reserve to deceive the enemy into thinking their soldiers can be in more than one place at a time... (I'm open to better suggestions).
