Big Boa is an ex-pro boxer/cage fighter that could never follow the rules. Cobra loved his style of harsh combat and hired him to toughen up their ranks. Aside from his duties as the Cobra trainer Big Boa assumes the role of bodyguard for high ranking Cobra officials. One time at a meeting between Tomax and Xamot and a certain shadow government, Tomax and Xamot were attacked by 20 henchmen because they felt betrayed and taken advantage of (a normal feeling after doing business with Cobra.)

Big Boa was the single bodyguard for the twins and single-handedly fought off every henchman and Cobra never had a problem with them again. The Joe he hates the most is Sgt. Slaughter. Big Boa considers Slaughter's training methods weak and more like summer camp than boot camp.
