I decided I wanted Zartan to be able to blend into society, and be able to jump on his bike and tool down the highway without causing alarm. In order to do this I had to be able to remove all of his gear and have him left in black jeans, a lycra shirt and heavy biker boots. The dark markings on his face did not bother me because there are freaks out there with facial tattoos and also the black eye paint is used as well. I decided to use the original Chestplate from the first Zartan for body armor. I wanted it to be removable, but also stay firmly in place when it is on him. I used sewing push pins and black plastic strips (available in most craft stores) to hold the chest plate on. I removed the boot knife from his right boot. I wanted the cowling so that when it was placed on the Duke V3 head it would stay in place. I chose this head because it had a crew cut, just like Zartan had in Marvel issue #48. I reworked the bow so that it looked like a compound bow, like the one that we saw Zartan use in many of the Marvel issues. I also wanted the backpack to be able to be strapped to his back and hand carried as well. I used the handle from Mainframes computer and some strapping to hold it onto his back. I made his holster from the buckles and pouches on Blackout's holster. I wanted the holster to be removable, but easy to get on and off, so I used black elastic from a BBi backpack. I wanted Zartan to have a small automatic pistol, like a mini-uzi with a silencer. I used the one that came with Shipwreck V5 and a piece of tubing from a can of air for the silencer.
