With the American Spirit and ideals headed into a downward spiral, GI Joe was looking for a way to inspire the people and show them the fighting American Spirit still existed and that it is possible to rise above impossible odds. They found that in soldier James Buchanan "Bucky" Barnes. Barnes had served for over a decade in the military all on the battlefield until he lost his arm in combat. This did not deter him and he still wanted to fight for his country. The Joes were able to fit him with a cybernetic arm and gave him a new identity to lead them into battle. Wearing the colors of the flag he is leading the team to new heights!
