I made these pieces a while ago. Just a statue for background really and a couple staffs with decorative heads.

Not until recently did I know the significance of the golden eagle to Rome. The movie "The Eagle" made me see my statue in a whole new light. and also my staff.

Through further reading on the golden eagle, Aquila in rome, I learned that it signified the god Jupiter and appears on his shield.
The Roman Legions carried a smaller golden eagle. I believe the falcon I used for the statue and freedom resembles the Roman eagle far better than an huge American eagle, which would be a much larger robust bird of prey.
