Yýlanin Kurbaçi - The Serpent's Lash

Cobra Commander maintains several 'hub' bases throughout the world: in the mountains of southwest Asia lies Cobra Mountain. The rough, mountainous landscape prevents the use of jeeps and tanks, so any assault force must fall back upon the traditional cavalry of horses and the like. As a necessity, Cobra maintains its own cavalry force to defend the mountain; at their lead is the man known as 'The Serpent's Lash', or Yýlanin Kurbaçi in his native Turkish.

Kurbaçi trains all of Cobra's mounted cavalry, but has taken the analogy one step further: If horses are this region's jeeps, what would be a tank? The answer: Patlamak (detonate), one of several African elephants raised in captivity at the Mountain. While armor for the great beast is still in the design phase, an armored howdah has been implemented, complete with a twin 30mm cannon.

OK, so I picked the elephant before I knew what I was going to do with it. However, in my defense, there was an article in last November that detailed how the US and combined forces in Afghanistan are really and truly using horses and donkeys instead of motorcycles and jeeps in the treacherous terrain. So, I felt a justification for the choice and the purpose fully locked in then. :)
