Volkov's childhood and adolescence is poorly-documented: he was raised in state-run orphanages and received his secondary education at a military preparatory academy. Enlisting in the Soviet Army upon graduation, Volkov saw combat during the waning days of the conflict in Afghanistan. His service record prior to his court martial was exemplary: Volkov was frequently cited for displays of dedication and valor in combat, despite a reputation for anti-social behavior. Details are scarce, but Volkov was tried for multiple offenses, including insubordination. Military officials with knowledge of the Ouroboros project intervened on his behalf and offered to reduce his sentence in exchange for his service as Head of Security for the facility (a position which had opened following the death of the previous Security Chief). Volkov accepted and was transferred to the Ouroboros Facility. Having been stripped of his rank as part of his punishment, Volkov is a civilian and thus is not privy to the most sensitive details of the research conducted at the Ouroboros Facility. He received disfiguring injuries in a lab explosion shortly after arriving. Volkov's left arm was replaced by a bionic prosthetic developed at the facility; he has thus far refused any cosmetic surgery to repair the facial scarring.

This was a relatively simple custom to make. The most involved aspects of this guy were the belt and holster, the robotic arm, and hollowing out the molded-on holster on the shoulder rig. The had also had to be hollowed out a bit to fit on the head. It's hard to see in the pictures, but there's some minor sculpting on the neck to match the scarring on the head.
