MercKintosh kept having nightmares of the people he slaughtered in the name of Cobra Corp long after the Cobra Nocturnal Advancement Procedure (N.A.P.), also known as the “chill pill”, stopped working entirely. While laying in his cot sleepless one night drenched in his own anxiety sweat, he remembered something his Great Granpappy Clint use to tell him before he was rounded up in Operation Octagenariane, “If you can’t change the hand you’re dealt, then change the way you play the game.” He had no idea what any of that meant except he needed to get out and get away from all of the crazyness.

While leading another anti-corporate espionage neighborhood sweep, he went in as a Cobra Corporate Officer and came out someone and something else entirely. He burned the uniform except the light-weight heavy arms resistant tactical vest. He painted over the Cobra symbol once he found a place to bunker down. At first his goal was simply to slip away, but the nightmares kept coming. He’d heard whispers of some Raiders out in the desert somewhere. He knew Cobra would be trying to find him, so he ripped open his Cobra barcode, tore out the implant and did what he could to slow them down, which in turn, made him want to cause all kinds of delays and distruptions in Cobra’s opertions. He took out a bridge here, busted up a dam there, melted all the drill bits at a mining outfit, redirected railroad tracks into a lake, etc. Pretty soon it was Razorback and Dane McCullen Destro who were hearing whispers about a renegade Cobra agent wanted for crimes against the Cobra regime.

DanOfTheDead did a great job with the Cobra Corporate Officer. I was thinking of a way I could put a twist on that torso and the image of an eagle came to mind. Well, who would wear enemy armor? Either a scavenger or a traitor, which is where the Mercer homage started. The rifle is my take on Cable’s “crank it to 11” gun from Deadpool 2.
