Did the Cobra Buzz Boar (87) have a set pilot/driver? In the commercial it is Crystal Ball, and I can't tell who it is supposed to be in the yo joe blueprints scan. Thanks.

On the box front, it's just a Viper.

I always used it with Battle Armor Cobra Commander. It shows him on the box I believe.

Edit: It was the Pogo I confused that with...

The Buzz Boar needed a pilot. That seems like one of those vehicles that your average foot soldier wouldn't be able to get in and drive...at least not without tipping it over. It should have had someone special to drive it.

The artwork in the 87 Catalog shows a regular 86 Viper inside, as does the actual box.

It feels like it wants to be a Nok vehicle, really. It can't be a standard staple of a COBRA battlefront, surely. It's one of them one-off psy-ops vehicles. Like it tears out into the battlefield and rips up a lot of bodies, spraying the mangled bits and spray over at the Joes, or something. Maybe it's a crowd-suppression vehicle, where you don't really care about the welfare of the crowd?

But yeah, I think it needs an individual dude(chick?) to drive it.

Actually AV it looked pretty sweet in the current IDW comics when they had a bunch of them in jungle camo paint ripping through a jungle. Almost was cool enough to make me want to get one to customize... almost. :shifty:

Overlord drove one during the Serpentor arc in the DD comics.

The blueprints show Big Boa, who loves the Buzz Boar because he loves alliteration.

Given their earth burrowing role, seems like the Techno-Vipers would make use of them sometimes.

As far as it not being a common weapon, if the cartoon had continued, I could see them being used as much as any previous small Cobra vehicles (well, except the hydro-sled, which I can't recall being used at all on the cartoon) and being equipped with parachutes. ;-)

Didn't Raptor drive one in a video game?

Terra-Viper would be a great pilot for the Buzz Boar.

I like the Buzz Boar. I cannot explain why.

especially if it's a custom version of a Terra Viper instead of the awkward CrocM-Serpy hybrid figure threw up from the RoC line.

Nope. You could actually capture and drive the buzz boar as well as the pogo and a battle copter. I still break this game out and play it every once and a while. It's just fun.

It's an up-armored Ditch Witch for running data and power service to the Cobra castles. That and getting free cable.
