Also got a Kong last night.
I like it, also really like that it rang up at only $25.

As expected he's too short to fit well with the Jakk's Pacific 24" Godzilla. If they had only ditched the worthless little statue-man pack in, and maybe even raised the price point a bit, they could've made him 1 1/2" to 2" larger and he'd fit in really well.

Overall I do like him, though his elbow joints are a bit wobbly/flexy and make me worry about their long term durability. Especially if a kid was playing with it. Also odd that he seems to have rocker ankle movement but can't toe up or down. Unless mine is just stuck, and honestly I am hesitant to force much with the figure for fear of breaking something.

Pretty much my feelings on the vehicle sets. I did get the bunker thing with Sam Jackson.

I mainly wanted the bunker-hut thing with the Monarch sign and the Kong photos and the Skull Crawler creature, which is a good thing, because the human figure isn't so good. The likeness is OK, but the paint is not. And considering that we have seen Sam Jackson figures a few times before, it only makes this one seem a little more 'meh' than it already did. Put it on a body that looks like a knock off of one of the worst new sculpt era Joes, and you've got a fairly disappointing figure.

For fans of The Corps stuff, this stuff should be right up their alley.
For me, it's just a reminder of why I'm not a Corps fan.

For everyone who hasn't followed the CORPS! Topic, After reading the above I want to let everyone know that Lanard is moving to modern articulation this summer, and while some may not like the t crotch style, It has allowed Lanard to continue to bring out new and exciting products such as the Beast Bomber, RainFire, new Titan Tank, and branch out to other properties, such as Kong Skull Island. Look at it like this, the Beast Bomber was 25.00! How much do other companies charge for similar sets? 75.00 or more. Exciting products will be coming this summer, it's a great time to be both a fan and a collector.

Saw these the other day. Not feeling it. Kong is nice & huge, but wish he had a touch of leg articulation, just for posing. I get that the new movie Kong is a stand-upright kind of guy, but he's a bit too erect (TWSS) -- and I'm not seeing any elbow swivel, just bend. I could be wrong, though. Might look at snagging him at a later date because he is quite a bit bigger than my Mexco Kong (although that one has more character.)

None of the creatures really impressed me, although I wouldn't mind grabbing the Sam Jackson bunker set mainly for the bunker. Not impressed with the figs at all. I keep hearing about the "new" articulation/style on Lanard figs, but these appear to be the same crap we've been getting for years.

Wonder if there's any plans for smaller-scaled Kong figs with more articulation? I wouldn't mind a decent 1:18 Grodd base or some Mangani fodder...

.....Okay, I'm not the only one getting a "British kitchen remodel sale" vibe from some of these posts, right? I'm not insane?

Anyway...More pictures of the various beasts with Joe scaled toys, please!

Yeah man. That's not just you.

Chief I was looking into that Mezco Kong on the secondary market not all that long ago. I think you're right it's superior. And I'm not even sure this one is any bigger than that aside from his posture being more upright.

That said, it was like $150 to get the one you have and $25 to get this. So at least I have something.

Struck out again today but I ordered some of the creatures from the 2005 movie to hold me over till I find these. They look like they will fit in with the Lanard figures pretty good. Kong is pretty undersized at 7" for most of the figures but the creatures looked nice.

Oh, so you're the guy who bought them. I was watching a set for awhile on the 'Bay, when it suddenly went out of stock.

I have had this set since I got it on clearance at Target after the movie came out. Be forewarned that some of the parts of these figures are squishy foam rubber-like materials. I also have another set that had some kind of silver/gray snake-like fish and he is entirely squishy :(

I honestly don't even remember seeing this set at retail. Now that I finally discovered it's existence, They're only available through overpriced buy-it-nows.

My Walmart had Kong and the Jeep/Spider on the shelf, but oddly just one of each of them. I may buy the set with the little shack, but that was about the only thing that excited me.
