Saw several posts on Facebook for some Walking Dead figures in a set, called Shiva Force.

Apparently a SDCC exclusive, there is mention of a fifth figure, unnamed at this time.

What is interesting is the GIJOE style cards and motifs, including ties to Tiger Force.

That's pretty funny.

The ties to Tiger Force and Joe style card art are totally on purpose.
Shiva is a tiger in the Walking Dead universe.
So... Tiger Force - Shiva Force.
Clever.

I was somewhat relieved that these weren't 3.75", that will save me from jumping through expensive hoops to acquire them.

What I wonder is how they're getting away with this without a massive lawsuit.

Because Hasbro no longer cares about Joe and it isn't worth their time and expenses to sue McFarlane Toys over something produced in small numbers for a single convention.

Also, it probably falls under "Fair Use"/Parody loopholes.

McFarlane may have cleared it with Hasbro, you never know since Hasbro isn't doing anything with the license and it's in a scale that gi joe has never been produced in and will likely never produce something gi joe in they might be okay with it.

The least Hasbro could do is issue a cease and desist letter. In that case McFarlane is only producing it once weren't planing on doing it again, do McFarlane's response could be we already did it so big woop.

Secondly Hasbro could sue over it, but unless they can prove that McFarlane somehow damaged the brand I think they're only entitled to profits from the toy. Since a SDCC limited number thing there probably isn't a lot of profit to go after, so it's probably not worth attorneys cost to go after it.

Now I'm not a lawyer but I play one on the internet.
