Looks like Hasbro is joining their own Kickstarter-type project

https://www.hasbrolab.com/

But, I don't see Jabba's sail barge getting done any other way.

Doesn't look that bad overall. Not quite sure why you'd put in a galley and not a bar, unless that's what it is and they don't want to call it that (Fett needs his umbrella drinks). The Hammerhead skeleton is a cool touch (can I just order one of those?).

Wow.
I applaud the effort.
Not sure I'll bite though.

I'd love a sail barge but I feel like I'd be paying extra for features I don't care about.
I'd love it if it were a bit smaller with a larger Jabba area. If Jabba's area included the armory space and they cut out the galley and jail, it would tempt me more. As is not sure about the price or the size. I'm still working on finding display space for my BMF.

If it's made I'll probably still end up with it... :shifty:

There is an armory in it.

I know, I wish that space were dedicated to making Jabba's area bigger.
I don't feel the need for an armory, or a jail, or a galley.

Am I the only one who thinks they may have been better off doing this as an actual Kickstarter? $500 minimum buy-in to get the thing, and then higher tiers get more crew members, electronics, the all-in gets you two skiffs...I dunno. I feel like the high rollers could subsidize those of us who can only sell so much plasma.

I think that is kind of the point of why it isn't. This isn't really crowd funded. It is a preorder, sure, but Hasbro has investers and capital. This is about proving viability, that something like this can and will be supported and not lose money for them. It is about justifying the cost when fans have been asking for it and designers have been wanting to make it. It is brlliant marketing. People not jumping on board at the asking price to make it worth their time and effort would defeat the purpose. To them, designing, engineering, and tooling all the bells and whistles costs them the same whether 4 people buy in or 400.

I gotta look at my money, but I think I'm in. I see a lot of starship potential in it beyond its use for Jabba.

Does anyone else see this being like the UCS Lego Falcon? Big sticker price - but not that far down the line, going for more than what people paid?

The Big Millennium Falcon and Big AT-AT go for more than their original MSRP, so I would be surprised if this didn't. Especially with this being a more limited, online only, non-retail, release.

Hasbro sent some pages of the booklet that will be sent out wiht the barge to some of the Star Wars sites. Here's a link with some interior images from Imperial Shipyards. http://imperialshipyards.net/sailbarge.pdf

Pretty amazing that it only has 2,610 people pledging out of millions of Star Wars fans.

$500 is a pretty good chunk of change

Anyone know if sales figures for the Flagg were ever released? How many of those were sold I wonder. Is 5000 barges needed a crazy number? It seems like not that many but maybe it is.
