Disney bought it then sold it back to Saban after a few years.
I wonder how long Hasbro will hold on on to it.
Bandai Japan is partly responsible for the production of the original Japanese show, so I wonder how that will go unless Hasbro decides to go fully original from now on.
The comics seem to have a good run lately.

Maybe they'll turn it into a cartoon which they'll abandon after a few episodes and the toys will only be available a year later... Sorry, I still have some Renegades flashbacks.

I think they're out to control as much of the pop culture and toy world as possible. For all intents and purposes, they just sent Bandai packing.

If you think about, it, they now control four of the seven most prominent pop culture concepts that have significant toy tie-ins -- Star Wars, Marvel, Power Rangers, and Transformers. It'll be five if they ever do anything with G.I. Joe again.

Mattel has two -- DC and WWE.

That leaves Playmates with the Ninja Turtles, which at the moment is barely worth mentioning.

And Bandai? Gone once Hasbro starts its own Rangers in 2019.

Not to sound conspiratorial or anything...

Bandai might not have a major presence in America, but they're not going anywhere as a company. They don't really make much efforts in America in the first place since Japan itself appears to max out their production capacity anyways.

As with anything, do it right and adults and kids will come in droves. Do it wrong and you appeal to anyone. Power Rangers has a fanbase. That Millenial group is just about to hit that nastalgia point with income to spend. Someone at Hasbro like a John Warden (GI Joe head designer during Retaliation, Transformers head designer at least since Metroplex) who knows how to appeal to long time fans as well as new blood with innovative designs could rock a property like Power Rangers. It is all about the resources Hasbro wants to sink into the toyline...unless this was all about the media property. If this was all about aquiring a franchise and its characters to beocme a Disney-lite or to get it off the table from Mattel, NECA, or Jakks, then who knows what the toys will be.
