soo this was fun to watch even if just from the sideline. i know so little about ks though. i can't imagine that the full amount of $$$ can be a sure thing for mg? or is it charged/paid up front? i thought i read before that in ks you don't pay until products are shipped.
if i would of had the $$$ the pick 1 would be the gun runners and add gun runners set 2. if i follow that correct it would be $50. not bad for 4 figures.
After the Kickstarter campaign, most creators are now joining up with a second company BackerKit. KickStarter is for promotion and fund-gathering. They take a percentage of the total raised off the top for their fee, then transfer the rest to the creator's bank account.
This causes an issue in that now these 4 guys at Marauder have some $500,000 dollars and 1,172 people wanting an ungodly-complex assortment of figures, so they contract with BackerKit to handle organizing all that data while the MGR guys start dealing with the factory people in China.
HOWEVER, BackerKit have also gotten into fund-raising. This is probably where your confusion about 'paying later' comes in. Ultimately, NO KickStarter project will have you pay after the product is manufactured as that completely negates the need for the KickStarter company in the first place. That's just simple pre-ordering like every retailer out there can do.
The additional funds BackerKit raises is added to the KS total, and even more products that didn't get Unlocked in the KS can get Unlocked in the BK; which everyone likes. However, only people that got in a qualifying pledge during the KS can have an account with the BK side.
It's wonky at times because neither company were created and organized for toy production where an entire toyline with multiple options are being created. They were intended for product lines where everyone gets the same thing, like a board game, playing card deck, or suchnot.
